TRAINING PROGRAM AT BDE CONSULTS
ICTs have become part of our everyday life because they improve efficiency and effectiveness where ever they have been applied; business, banks, technology, law, governance, medicine . . . but to mention a few. It is therefore imperative that ICT skills be acquired by all as their use will be called upon time and again in all kinds of situations.
It is never too early to acquire these skills as they may even be life-saving, say during an emergency when a child can make a call for help.
Information and Communication Technologies are a key focus in BDE activities and therefore we have set up a training program in ICTs to help build capacity for adults as well as children.

ICT: The sure way for SME business operations
ICT has a key role to play in driving innovation and competitiveness for small businesses and can help reduce costs, enable more efficient development processes and bring products to the market more quickly than in the past.
The use of technology has given many companies great strides in their sales and it has broadened their market. “Most companies are struggling with means of cutting costs but with the adoption of technology, it can be easy to effectively cut cost of operation while you retain good standards for your business,” it has been argued. SMEs should take a step forward by embracing technology because this will be an easy way towards global recognition of their businesses.
Many SMEs in Uganda have not embraced its use and this has in a way held them back in their operations and development. Experts have advised that information and technology is a wise and convenient approach for SMEs to do business since it positions their businesses against stiff competition.
With improved internet connectivity, it is possible for SMEs to have access to global markets, create new jobs while helping existing businesses to grow.
